Okay, so I’ve been digging into this whole astrology thing, and today I wanted to figure out what it means when your Sun is square your Ascendant in your birth chart. Let me tell you, it was a bit of a process, but I think I’ve got a handle on it now.

First, I pulled up my own natal chart. I use this one website, it’s pretty simple, you just punch in your birth date, time, and place, and boom, there’s your chart. I’ve been doing this for a little while so I know what all lines mean.
I located my Sun sign. Then, I found my *’s easy to find as it point to the sign rising on the Eastern horizon at time of birth.
The Squaring Begins
Now, to see if they’re square, I had to look at the degrees. Basically, a square means they’re about 90 degrees apart. Mine were pretty close, so yep, Sun square Ascendant for me!
- I used my fingers to make sure with the chart degrees between Sun and Ascendant, counted.
- Yup! Almost exactly 90 degrees!
I read through some interpretations. It’s all about this internal tension, you know? Like, who you are on the inside (your Sun) might clash with how you come across to others (your Ascendant). It can make you feel misunderstood or like you’re always battling yourself.
For me, it shows that who I am is kind of battling, I checked my Sun sign and it means inner-self. And my rising is how I show myself. So I am feeling kind of tension with this square thing!
But it also means there’s this drive to overcome that tension, to integrate those parts of yourself. It’s like, you’re not doomed to be at war with yourself forever, it’s more like a challenge to grow and become more whole. I jotted down some notes about how I think this manifests in my own life.
It was really eye-opening! I still have some questions I will keep digging, but now I feel pretty good about my chart, and I can start paying attention to the patterns in my life.
