Okay, so the other day I got really into this whole sun and moon symbolism thing. It started pretty randomly, actually.
I started by just doodling in my notebook, you know, the usual sun with rays and a crescent moon. Then I thought, “Hey, these symbols are everywhere, what do they actually mean?”
Digging into the Symbols
So, I grabbed my laptop and went down a rabbit hole. I started with a simple search, nothing fancy, just “sun symbolism” and “moon symbolism”. The stuff that popped up was pretty interesting!
- The Sun: I found out it’s often linked to energy, vitality, and like, a strong, positive force. Some places saw it as a symbol of leadership and even divinity. Makes sense, right? It’s the big, bright thing in the sky!
- The Moon: This one’s a bit more mysterious. I read about it representing cycles, emotions, and the feminine side of things. There’s also a connection to intuition and the subconscious, which I thought was pretty cool.
Making it My Own
After getting a basic understanding, I wanted to do something with it. So I decided to create a little piece of art incorporating both symbols.
I started sketching again, this time with more intention. I drew the sun and moon facing each other, kind of like they were in conversation. I played around with different styles, first trying bold lines, then switching to something softer and more flowing.
I ended up using watercolors to add color. Bright yellows and oranges for the sun, naturally, and cool blues and purples for the moon. I even added some silver glitter to the moon, because why not?
The Final Result
It’s not a masterpiece or anything, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s a cool reminder of the balance between these two powerful forces. Plus, the whole process of researching and creating was super relaxing. I Might even do this more, and I am going to try explore other symbols next time!
