Okay, so today I decided to dive into the Temperance Tarot card. I’ve been trying to get a better handle on the meanings of all the cards, and Temperance seemed like a good one to tackle next.
I started by just looking at the card itself. I use the Rider-Waite deck, so it’s the classic image of an angel pouring water between two cups. I noticed the angel has one foot on land and one in the water, which I thought was interesting. Seemed like a balance thing, maybe?
Then I did some digging online. I found a bunch of different interpretations, but they all seemed to circle around a few key ideas:
- Balance: This was the big one. It’s about finding the middle ground, not going to extremes.
- Moderation: Kind of goes along with balance. It’s about not overdoing things.
- Patience: Taking your time, not rushing into anything.
- Purpose: Having a clear vision and combining elements to the vision.
To really get a feel for it, I tried to think about how Temperance might apply to my own life. I’ve been feeling kind of all over the place lately, stressed about work and not making enough time for myself. It felt like Temperance was telling me to slow down, find a better way to balance things out.
I’m not gonna lie, it’s not like I had some huge epiphany. But taking the time to really think about the card, it made sense with that advice, and I started feeling a little calmer, a little more centered.
It became a start point for me to do some self-reflection to find balance in daily life.
I decided to keep a little journal for the next week, just jotting down when I felt like I was being “temperate” or “intemperate.” Like, did I manage to balance work and relaxation? Did I lose my patience with someone? Did I eat a whole pizza by myself? (That last one might be a frequent occurrence…)
It’s a work in progress, for sure. But exploring the Temperance card definitely gave me some food for thought. Hopefully, by paying more attention to these ideas, I can bring a little more balance and harmony into my own life. We’ll see how it goes!
