Okay, so today I decided to dive deep into the Page of Swords tarot card. I’ve been messing around with tarot for a while, but mostly just pulling a card a day and kinda vaguely thinking about it. I figured it was time to actually study a card, you know?
My Deep Dive Process
First, I just looked at the card. I mean, really looked at it. I use the Rider-Waite deck, because it’s, like, the classic one. So, you’ve got this young person, holding a sword up high, kinda windswept, standing on some uneven ground. There are these turbulent-looking clouds in the sky. My initial impression? Energy. Lots and lots of restless energy.
I Grabbed my notebook that I to record my process step by step, I wrote down those first impressions:
- Wind
- Movement
- Sword held high – kinda defensive, maybe?
- Young, maybe inexperienced
- Rough terrain
Then, I got down to business. I opened a few of my favorite tarot websites and my go-to tarot book. I wanted to see what the “official” meanings were. I jotted down the keywords that kept popping up:
- Ideas
- Curiosity
- Communication
- Restlessness
- New beginnings (but maybe a bit chaotic)
Then, I took this time to search for some information. Then, I went back to the card and tried to connect those “official” meanings to the actual image. For example, the sword held high? That could represent new ideas, sharp intellect, being ready to defend your thoughts. The wind and clouds? That’s the restless energy, the feeling of things being up in the air.
Next, I thought about how this card might apply to my life right now. I’ve been feeling kinda antsy lately, like I want to start something new but I’m not sure what. And I’ve definitely been having a lot of scattered ideas, jumping from one thing to the next. The Page of Swords felt… surprisingly accurate.
After the card reading session. So, I did a little three-card spread for myself, focusing on this feeling of wanting to start something new. And guess what? The Page of Swords showed up again! This time, it was in the “challenges” position. I think that means I need to be careful not to get carried away by all these new ideas, to actually focus and ground myself. So I make a mark in my notebook and I think I need to keep it in mind!
My biggest takeaway? The Page of Swords isn’t just about having ideas, it’s about the energy around those ideas. It’s exciting, but it can also be overwhelming. It’s a reminder to be curious and explore, but also to be mindful and not get lost in the whirlwind. Also I will keep learning the tarot cards and maybe share next card that I learnt next time.
