Okay, so today I decided to do a little tarot reading for myself, and guess what card popped up? The Emperor, but reversed. At first, I was like, “Uh oh, what does that mean?” So, I grabbed my favorite tarot deck – the one with the really pretty artwork – and got to work.

I laid out the cards in a simple three-card spread – past, present, future. And boom, there it was, The Emperor reversed in the present position. I have to admit, my heart kinda sank a little.
Digging Deeper
So, I consulted my trusty tarot guidebook (everyone’s got one, right?). It basically said that a reversed Emperor can mean a few things:
- Loss of control or authority
- Feeling powerless or overwhelmed
- Being too rigid or stubborn
- Lack of discipline or structure
I sat there for a while, just thinking about how this might apply to my life. I’ve been feeling pretty stressed at work lately, like I’m not really in charge of my own projects. And honestly, I’ve been kind of a control freak about it, which probably isn’t helping.
The book also suggested looking at the other cards in the spread for more context. The past card was The Star (hope, inspiration – pretty positive!), and the future card was The Lovers (decisions, relationships – could go either way!).
My Takeaway
After some serious self-reflection, I realised that maybe I need to loosen up a bit. Stop trying to control everything and everyone, and just trust that things will work out. It’s a tough one for me, but I’m trying! Also, Seeing The Lovers in the future position reminded me that I need to focus on my communication and relationships.
It wasn’t the most uplifting reading I’ve ever had, but it was definitely helpful. That is it. It gave me some stuff to think about, and a gentle nudge in the right direction. I felt like this way that I should try it, you know? Tarot’s not about predicting the future, it’s about gaining insights and finding ways to improve yourself and your life.
