Okay, so the other day, I was thinking about how to figure out if two people are a good match for marriage, you know, using astrology and stuff. I’m from a Telugu background, so I was particularly interested in how it’s done in our culture.

I started by, well, going online, obviously. I typed in “marriage matching astrology in Telugu” and, boy, did I get a lot of results. It was kind of overwhelming at first. There were all these websites and videos about something called “Gunamelan” or “Kundali Matching” in Telugu.
I clicked on a few of these links and started to read. It turns out there’s this whole system called “astha koota” that’s used for checking compatibility. It looks at the birth charts, or “Jathakam,” of the two people and assigns points based on how well different aspects align. There is the position of the planets at the time of your birth and their current positions, to find how compatible two people are for each other. If more than 2 planets are positioned in the 11th house then that also demonstrates second marriage. If the lords of 2nd house and 7th house are impacted on by malefic planets or Mars & Saturn meets 7th & 8th house respectively, so this needs to be considered seriously.
I found this one website that actually let you put in the birth details and it would do the matching for you. It was pretty cool, but also a bit confusing. There were so many factors they considered, like the “Kuja dosha,” which I learned is a big deal in our astrology.
Then, I watched a video where this Telugu astrologer was explaining the whole scoring system. He was saying there are 100 marks, and different aspects like “Nakshatra,” “Rashi,” and “Gana” get assigned certain points. It seemed like a lot of math and calculations.
The Real Test
Now, I wanted to see this in action. I thought, why not try it out with my cousin’s details? He’s been seeing this girl, and everyone’s wondering if they’ll get married.
- I got their birth dates, times, and places of birth.
- I went back to that website and carefully entered all the information.
- I hit the “match” button and waited.
The results came up, and it showed a pretty good score! I don’t remember the exact number, but it was definitely above average. I was excited and a little surprised. I called my cousin and told him what I found. He was curious but also a bit skeptical, which is understandable.
My Takeaway
Honestly, it was a fun little experiment. I don’t know if I totally believe in all this astrology stuff, but it’s definitely interesting to see how it works and how important it is in our culture. I mean, people have been using it for ages to make these big life decisions.
I wouldn’t solely rely on this to choose a life partner, but it’s an interesting tool, and at least I’m going to explore some more about it. Who knows, maybe there’s something to it? Anyway, it was a good learning experience, and I thought I’d share it with you all.
