Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with this idea of “sun as feelings.” I’ve been seeing it pop up in some spiritual communities and art projects, and it sounded like a fun little experiment to try out for myself.

First, I grabbed my journal and a pen. Nothing fancy, just the usual stuff I use for daily notes. I went outside and found a nice sunny spot in my backyard. It was mid-morning, so the sun was already pretty high and warm.
Getting Started
I sat down, closed my eyes, and just focused on the feeling of the sun on my skin. I tried to clear my mind and just notice the sensations. Warmth, obviously, but also a kind of gentle pressure. I also noticed how the light felt different on different parts of my body – stronger on my face, weaker on my legs where my jeans were.
- Warmth: Like a cozy blanket.
- Pressure: A gentle, all-over hug.
- Light: Bright and intense on exposed skin, softer where I was covered.
Diving Deeper
Then I started to think about what emotions these sensations brought up. The warmth felt comforting and secure, like being wrapped in a hug. The pressure felt grounding, like I was connected to something bigger than myself. The brightness felt energizing and optimistic. It was like the sun was saying, “Hey, wake up! It’s a beautiful day!”
I jotted down some words and phrases in my journal:
- “Safe and secure”
- “Connected”
- “Energized”
- “Optimistic”
- “Hopeful”
I also noticed that as the sun moved across the sky, and as clouds occasionally passed by, the sensations and my feelings shifted slightly. When a cloud covered the sun, I felt a little cooler, a little more introspective. It was like a brief moment of quiet reflection before the sun came back out and the energy returned.
Wrapping Up
I spent about 20 minutes just sitting there, feeling and writing. By the end, I felt surprisingly calm and centered. It was like the sun had given me a little dose of good vibes. I think this is something that will be very helpful when I am creating, and when I want to get myself into a certain mood, I can now just use the feeling of the sun to help me remember.
It’s a simple little exercise, but it was definitely worth it. I think I’ll try this again, maybe at different times of the day, to see how the feelings change. If you are looking for something new to add into your practice. Try it, you may love it!
